04/03/2026

On 25 February, BIOSTARS participated in the inauguration of InnovaPilas’26, an initiative promoted by the Pilas Town Council to foster innovation, training and economic development in the municipality.

The European BIOSTARS project was present on 25 February 2026 in the Seville municipality of Pilas for the inauguration of InnovaPilas’26, an event focused on social innovation and territorial development.

Rocío Gómez and Florencio Valero, members of ADAD, a BIOSTARS partner organisation, attended on behalf of the project. Both participated in the opening ceremony held at the PilasLab facilities, a space designed to promote experimentation, knowledge transfer and the promotion of new business initiatives in the region.

The event was attended by institutional authorities such as the Regional Minister for Universities, Research and Innovation of the Regional Government of Andalusia, José Carlos Gómez Villamandos, and the Mayor of Pilas, José Leocadio Ortega, who highlighted the importance of creating collaborative environments in which administrations, companies and knowledge centres work together to promote new economic opportunities based on innovation.

InnovaPilas will reach its 16th edition in 2026, consolidating its position as a benchmark for analysing the challenges of digital transformation and strengthening the municipality’s capabilities in the face of current technological, economic and social changes. Under the approach ‘Understand · Apply · Transform’, the programme will develop various activities during March and April aimed at citizens, the business community and the improvement of public services.

In this context, ADAD’s participation highlights the connection between local initiatives such as InnovaPilas and European projects such as BIOSTARS, which work to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable development in rural Mediterranean areas, such as the Aljarafe-Doñana pilot zone.
