11/05/2026

Last week, the BIOSTARS consortium gathered in L’Aquila (Italy) for a two-day meeting focused on advancing the implementation of bioeconomy startup villages across rural Mediterranean territories.

Hosted by CUEIM, the meeting brought together project partners to review the progress achieved so far and coordinate the next steps of the initiative. Discussions focused on the development and official release of the BIOSTARS Toolbox, training activities for public authorities and entrepreneurs, support actions for SMEs, startups and social enterprises, and strategies to scale project results across the Mediterranean region.

Partners also addressed upcoming communication activities, stakeholder engagement actions and the development of the BIOSTARS youth platform, aimed at encouraging youth participation in the smart bioeconomy.

The second day included a field visit to the Subequana Valley, providing participants with the opportunity to explore local realities connected to sustainable rural development and innovation in the bioeconomy sector.
