The core of the meeting was a structured discussion session designed to capture local insights and territorial needs to feed into the BIOSTARS Toolbox. Around 15 participants actively contributed to the debate, addressing key topics such as the mapping of local needs, barriers and opportunities; stakeholder roles and collaboration models; local skills and capacity gaps; youth engagement; regulatory and funding conditions; communication and engagement strategies; expected socio-economic and environmental impacts; and the co-design of tailored transfer roadmaps.
The session took place at Pilas Lab, a newly built facility owned by the Pilas City Council that will soon be officially inaugurated. The contributions gathered during the discussion will directly inform the development of practical tools, guidelines and methodologies within the BIOSTARS Toolbox, reinforcing a bottom-up approach to circular bioeconomy innovation in rural Mediterranean areas.
